Sam runs Eos with two other General Partners – Jonathan Kalman and Carl Bauer-Schlichtegroll. Together the partners have decades of transactional and operational experience in the insurance industry and an exceptional investment track record withmultiple exits (including 3 IPO’s and 2 unicorns). Jonathan is an experienced GP in the FinTech and InsurTech sectors with 18 years of investment experience and a successful track record driving investor returns. Carl is an experienced investment banker focused on insurance having worked with some of the world’s leading investment banks for over 25 years. Eos is based in London, Philadelphia and Guernsey with affiliates in Hong Kong and Silicon Valley and has made considerable traction to date, with 6 InsurTech investments and building a number of strategic partnerships with leading InsurTech and technology players across the globe. Prior to establishing Eos Venture Partners, Sam was a partner at KPMG specialising in insurance. Sammade partner in 2008 and for the last four years was the global deal advisory lead for insurance. During his career, Sam has worked in many of the largest and fastest growing insurance markets globally and has lived in Sydney, Hong Kong, Zurich and London. Sam has significant experience understanding, assessing & analysing insurers based on over 150 transactions across multiple markets with a total deal value in excess of $75bn. In addition, Sam has experience of market entry and implementing broader growth strategies in both mature and high growth markets, optimising balance sheets in a deal context given an evolving regulatory environment and advising on regulatory and compliance risks. Sam’s experience encompasses both mature markets (UK, Continental Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, US & Australia) and high growth markets (China, India, Russia, Indonesia, Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia). Sam has a BA Hons in Economics from Durham University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
