He is a professor at Saarland University and Chair of Biophotonics and Lasertechnologie. His research focus is the femtosecond laser technology in biomedicine and materials processing. As well as CEO, he is the founder and managing partner of JenLab GmbH and the UDF GmbH. For his valuable contributions to multiphoton tomography, he received the 2008 Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis.
